For security reasons, access to some system functions (or entire services) from outside the University's network may be protected. For example, the Employee, Teacher and Dean's Office modules in the Moja PG portal are unavailable when you log into your account using a computer outside of the Gdańsk Tech network. In this case, gaining access to the full functionality of portals and systems requires the fulfillment of an additional condition: setting up an encrypted connection with the University's servers using a VPN (Virtual Private Network).
There are two ways to get a VPN connection:
- via a web browser (SSL-VPN service) - the method provides convenient and extended access to the Moja PG modules and to the resources of the Gdańsk Tech Document Repository. Access to other IT services requires OpenVPN service.
- via installed software (OpenVPN service) - the method requires one-time configuration, unlike SSL-VPN. The type of VPN program required depends on the operating system: OpenVPN for Windows family systems, and Tunnelblick for Apple brand systems.
Note: SSL-VPN is only enabled for Gdańsk Tech employees. Students can only get a VPN connection through the OpenVPN software (as long as they completed the formalities and are approved).
